Welcome to my website! My name is Maria, and art has been a lifelong passion for me. Born and raised on Long Island, New York, I earned a BA in Fine Arts from Hofstra University in 1994, with a minor in Art History and Philosophy. The following year I moved to Maine, and have since made it my home. Beginning with the first sale of my work in 1996, I've had paintings displayed in several venues throughout the state over the years, in both group and solo exhibits.
My primary medium is acrylic but I have also worked with oil paints, oil pastels, and polymer clay. My work has been described as fun, mystical, colorful, and positive. I love color and texture, and don’t believe in restricting myself. I try to give myself up to the process and just let things flow: subject matter is whatever grabs me at the moment.

Maria, pictured above right, on the front page of the Gorham Times, as part of a story on the Gorham Art Fair.
"Several hundred people of all ages attended the Second Annual Gorham Art Fair which included 36 local artists and four live music sets. Many artists commented it was their busiest sales event of the year. The Gorham Food Pantry raised over $800 from the silent auction; other charitable organizations present were habitat for humanity and a GMS student group who were raising funds to donate toward home heating old assistance. Thanks to the art enthusiasts who attended, the organizers are already planning for next years' Gorham Art Fair."
Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.
